EkoSkola Open Day - The Process and Event

Gozo College Middle School celebrated a week long activities as part of its EkoSkola project. The EkoSkola Committee is taking part in the EU funded project We Eat Responsibly, the Community Link project by WasteServ and the LEAF programme. The action plan of the school focuses on responsible food consumption, waste reduction and appreciation of the outdoors. Taking a whole school approach, students learnt about edible wild plants, went foraging and cooked various recipes using foraged leaves to reach the aims of the action plan. A recipe book making use of wild plants like nettle, borage, fennel and sea beet was produced. The aim of the recipe book is to reach out to more people to raise awareness about new ingredients which are frequently considered as waste.
